Somatics simply put, is healing through the body.

We’re operating at low capacity.

Ongoing trauma, oppressive systems, and violence, all erode our capacity to stay connected to ourselves and one another. Yet, we still have and are using skills that are keeping us alive - whatever they might be, they’re successful because if we’re still here - they worked!

My approach is rooted in honoring your survival shape, the shape you take when you’re in survival mode. I’m uninterested in digging up your worst or most painful traumas in the name of telling me, pathologizing you, or shaming how you’ve been surviving.

I’m more interested in helping you build and refine the skills that let you breathe easier. Skills where you can be, act, respond, be in alignment with your values, and still have the energy to help build the world you want to live in.

Our ultimate goal is to decrease overwhelm and increase emotional + spiritual capacity.

Client testimonials

“I’m somebody who has always been overwhelmed by my own feelings.

And I am finally understanding what it means to feel without fear. Thank you so much Adi.”

“After session, I was asking myself, ‘What’s the opposite of a vulnerability hangover?’ where you feel safe to share without the judgement, shame and all the other things that come with sharing. Thank you Adi, I appreciate our time together. ”

“I had reached a point where therapy/CBT were no longer effective. I knew I still had a lot of growth left in my healing journey, but couldn’t figure out how to start. I was so used to leaving therapy feeling heavy and dissatisfied— be it about my emotions, my place in the world, any number of things. I found a new way to relate to my emotions through somatics. I leave my sessions feeling like I know so much more about myself, about my emotions and how I process them. I’ve been able to be more attuned with my body and be more present in my own life — which is a new sensation for me! Adi is patient, wise, and understanding. They create a relaxing environment that allows me to explore myself in a brand new way. I’m so grateful for the experience and highly recommend him to anyone who is searching for a deeper understanding of themself.”

about me

I come from a lineage of body workers, farmers, herbalists, fire keepers, poets, dreamers, and dancers. I’m a 2nd generation Mexican and Puerto Rican, queer, trans, sober, person who grew up in a multi-generational household. I’m getting in the practice of saying that I’m a healer - not because I heal other people, but because I have healed so many parts of myself.

I’m certified in Trauma-Informed Somatics Therapy and have studied with Peter Levine, Manuela Mischke-Reeds, Arielle Schwartz, Stephen Porges, Deb Dana, Susan McConnell, Pat Ogden, & more. All of these researchers taught me a lot about terminology, types of theories, and approaches on treatment. Throughout the certification, I felt affirmed that almost all of the knowledge on treatment/remedies that I was getting was knowledge that I already carried from my elders and teachers. Knowledge that is rooted in generations of lived resiliency and that (respectfully) integrates the Earth into it’s practice of healing the body. This is the foundation of my work: using natural elements and cultural practices to help connect us back to our bodies and one another.

Special shout out to the brilliant matriarchs that shared their wisdom and pushed me to do this work. Specifically, Estela Roman, Alé Abreu, Batul True Heart, Doña Enriqueta, Doña Socorro, and of course, my first somatics practitioner, Stacy Torres. Muchísimas gracias -sin ustedes este trabajo sería imposible.
